Estate of the Art Outdoor Wedding Decoration
This dream house: a palace inspired by French valley châteaus and proper English gardens, with endless corridors and 126 rooms. This wedding captures the splendor of the mansion, which was completed in the early 1900s for aristocrat Otto Hermann Kahn (hence the abbreviated version, Oheka). With placid pools and a central fountain, the formal garden needs little embellishment—rose petals to mark the aisle, ending with a pair of potted topiaries. Location, Oheka Castle, Huntington, New York.
Oheka’s intricate knot garden needs minimal decoration for the ceremony.
Streamers and topiaries decorate the honeymoon-suite balcony overlooking the ceremony; urns and pedestals.
The lower-foyer staircase leads to the ballroom, past the console filled with escort cards; flowers.
Whimsical writing in white ink on green winks at formality; calligraphy.
After the vows are exchanged, guests flow into the house, up a grand double staircase and into a majestic ballroom customized with the colors of the landscape—green and white—adding lavender for a cooling effect.
Sweet peas, roses, lady’s mantle and ivy flow from a loose arrangement into a swag at the head table; bowl.
A semi-sweet bubbly goes well with dessert; Cuvée Sublime.
Topiary soap favors are a charming send-off; favors.
The wedding cake rises to the occasion with each shapely fondant tier—an extravagant finale to a ravishing reception.
